TALES OF WAR & GRIEF: Signum Quartet

  • Dodero Center for Performing Arts 2045 Som Center Road Gates Mills, OH, 44040 United States (map)

War…what is it good for? Signum Quartet, ENCORE’s opening night musicians turned conversation panelists, discuss war, grief, and how current events are affecting our mental health around the world. Afterwards, join us for an evening of pop culture's most prominent anti-war, anti-establishment song arrangements by South African composer Matthijs van Dijk (brother of the Signum Quartet violist, Vandi van Dijk), curated with art song arrangements of Franz Schubert. After all, Schubert was a rebel of his own right having been blacklisted by the Austrian Empire for “inveighing against officials with insulting and opprobrious language.”
